Following up to my previous post, here’s the email I sent to the kiddo’s teacher.
Message :Mrs [TEACHER], While going through [KIDDO’S] book bag today, I found six containers of lip gloss. I asked where they came from and was told the “Treasure Box” on Friday. Assuming this was a good thing, I asked if she was that good to get six prizes, she said no; she was only supposed to get one had taken extra for her “mom and family.”
I was furious and lectured to her about the wrongs of thievery and karma and the cyclical nature of the world. I told her I was going to bring her to school Tuesday, march her into class, and have her return all the lip gloss and confess to you her offense. She begged me not to, saying it was her responsibility to make it right and be a big girl and do the right thing.
After considering this, I have decided not to come with her, but to see if she can handle the growing responsibility she will encounter as life progresses. However, I am no dummy and want to let you know that I expect her to talk to you tomorrow and return all six items and offer an apology. Please let me know if she does not return all six of the items.
On a side note, I sincerely apologize for her actions. I try to teach her and guide her properly, but only having a two day visitation window limits some of the effect I have. This is not how I expect her to act and, again, I am deeply sorry.
Respectfully,
[ME]

I am posting this here because I hope, in due time, the kiddo will find her way to this space and read what I did. Not to embarrass her, but to teach and mold her into a great human. Not the thieving trash that is so abundant these days.
Can’t stand a fucking thief.
